The Friday Rock Show - 36 - The North Pole

From within a doomed, melting igloo at the top of the world, radio hosts Adrian and Tony regale their listeners with tales of music, friendship, climate change, and narrow escapes from disaster. Their friend Jagger's dreams of a reunion concert end in heartbreak and renewed purpose, while calls about science and pop culture give way to a fight for survival amidst the rising Arctic waters. Though faced with tragedy and loss, Adrian and Tony maintain their spirit and humor until the very end.

This fascinating episode chronicles the rise, fall, and redemption of Alberto, a small town karaoke singer whose life is turned upside down after a romantic encounter leads to scandal. Exiled for years, he attempts a bold comeback in disguise only to face violent retribution. Through an unlikely friendship, Alberto learns to make peace with his past. 

Meanwhile, a fan's pilgrimage abroad takes a paranoid turn upon his return when a chance airport encounter leaves him fearing a swine flu diagnosis. His frantic isolation leads to an embarrassing mishap. This moving episode explores the power of gossip, the danger of assumptions, and the resilience of the human spirit.

Live, on a Friday, the mighty meniscus rubbing Friday Rock Show is back! And back with Pat Shaughnessy! Pat is the one and only guitarist from Greenane in Wicklow, Ireland. He performs in the double-jumper guitar suit the mother made him and not long ago he joined DJ Adgeen Byrne and me, Tony Wilson, on this here show up at the North Pole! Yes. The North Pole. 

Pat played us a few of his icy chords in his icy cords as we were sent up North by management to broadcast, as they said, our "highly overrated yet frustratingly popular" rock show. We huddled in our 'Rock Igloo' to give you the very best to warm up your tubes.
